TMC panchayat pradhan shot dead in Uttar Dinajpur, probe on

ASSAILANTS ON a motorcycle and allegedly shot dead a Trinamool Congress panchayat pradhan in West Bengal’s Uttar Dinajpur district on Wednesday, police said.

The police identified the deceased as Panjipara Gram Panchayat chief Mohammad Rahi. Rahi was shot at while leaving the panchayat office on Wednesday afternoon. He was taken to a hospital and later succumbed to injuries, said a police officer.

According to police sources, the victim was shot multiple times by unidentified miscreants who were on a motorcycle, the officer added. The suspects fled on their vehicle soon after, the police said.

Rahi was first taken to Kishanganj Medical College and Hospital in neighbouring Bihar and later shifted to a private healthcare centre in Siliguri in the northern part of West Bengal.
