A 79-year-old woman was stabbed to death inside her house in Southwest Delhi’s Krishna Nagar, officers said on Tuesday.
The police received a PCR call informing that septuagenarian Krishna Devi had been lying on the floor of her house upon a pool of blood and stab injuries on her neck, a senior police officer told The Indian Express.

According to the police, a woman identified as Mamta, who runs a small kitchen for students, used to provide her food. Last night, at around 9:30 pm, whem Mamta came to deliver her food, she found the lights to be switched-off. “She called a boy from the second floor and found her lying in the room. The body has been sent to Safdarjung Hospital for post-mortem,” the police added.
Police said that the deceased had been staying at the house for the past 10-to-12 years.

The police have lodged a case of murder and launched an investigation into the matter. “We suspect a friendly entry as there was no previous enmity of the woman with anyone… Her two sons are settled in Kanpur and Noida and she owns a three-floored building in Kishangarh, where she lives on the first floor and the tenants occupy the ground, second and third floor… We are scanning the CCTV footage and questioning the tenants. We are suspecting the role of the domestic help of the house,” an officer said.
