Inauguration of Pune Airport’s new terminal building getting delayed due to unavailability of PM Modi, alleges Congress

The inauguration of Pune Airport’s new terminal building is being delayed due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unavailability, said Congress leader Mohan Joshi on Wednesday.

Joshi said the Congress will launch an agitation if the new terminal building is not operationalised by January 1.

“It’s important to operationalise the new terminal building at the soonest for the convenience of flyers. As per our information, it’s been two-three months since the building is ready but the inauguration did not take place as Prime Minister Modi was busy campaigning in the recent Assembly polls,” said Joshi.

“Flyers are anxiously waiting for the inauguration of the new building…It’s infuriating to see people suffering just because some leaders do not have time for inauguration,” Joshi said.

The work on the new terminal building, which is being built at an estimated cost of Rs 475 crore, started in 2017 and was supposed to finish by September 2022. The project has, however, seen some delays with the completion deadline being shifted twice since.8
