Roshni Chopra shares three things to get out of negative mood: ‘Third is the most powerful’

A negative mood can significantly impact both your day at home and work. Although snapping out of it isn’t always easy, you can certainly adopt simple practices to improve your mood. Curious about how? Put your worries aside, as Roshni Chopra recently took to Instagram to reveal three effective strategies she employs to uplift her mood.

Roshni, who is known for regularly sharing vital lifestyle tips spanning fashion, home decor, food, and more, wrote, “The third one is a game-changer.”

Now, let’s delve into these transformative habits with insights from Roshni:

*Get dressed: Roshni mentioned that getting dressed actually “directly impacts how we feel and act”.

*Gratitude: The actor-influencer said that she counts five things and people she’s thankful for. “This instantly changes how I am feeling. Gratitude is a magnet for miracles,” Roshni said.

*Manifest: “Imagine and write down my goals/dreams for the week as they have already happened,” she said.

According to Aishwarya Raj, a clinical psychologist based in Delhi-NCR, getting out of a negative mood requires a combination of strategies that address your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.

“Practicing mindfulness can help you become aware of your negative thought patterns and detach from them. Engaging in deep breathing, meditation, or progressive muscle relaxation can promote relaxation and reduce stress,” she said.

Shifting your focus to positive aspects of your life can also be beneficial. “This might involve listing things you’re grateful for or recalling past successes. Engaging in activities you enjoy, such as hobbies, exercise, or spending time with loved ones, can boost your mood by releasing endorphins,” Raj added.

According to the psychologist, challenging negative thoughts by considering evidence that contradicts them and reframing them in a more realistic light can change your perspective. “Limiting exposure to negative triggers, like news or certain people, can prevent further exacerbation of your mood. Remember, seeking professional help from a therapist or counsellor is always an option if your negative mood persists or worsens. Developing a toolbox of these strategies and adjusting them based on what works best for you can empower you to effectively manage and overcome negative moods,” she concluded.
