IPL 2024 MI Team Players List: In the last month, Mumbai Indians have shaken up the Indian Premier League’s balance of power with a move that has the potential to either make or break the franchise. The five-time IPL champions poached back Hardik Pandya via a trade from the Gujarat Titans. The all-rounder took the Titans to the IPL final in both seasons, one of which ended with a title.
Hardik had spent the formative years of his IPL career at the MI franchise but now joins the team in what was a bigger transfer of power: the team management announced that they had decided to make Hardik the captain, handing over the reins that Rohit Sharma had held so capably for so many years.
With Hardik joining the team before the IPL auction, the team has a strong core of proven Indian match-winners in the form of Rohit, Hardik, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan.
To make way for Hardik, Mumbai had to trade Cameron Green to the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Bought in the IPL 2023 auction for a whopping price tag of Rs 17.50 crore, making him the second most expensive player in the IPL, Green had delivered some good performances with the bat, scoring a couple of 50s, against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings before scoring a century in the final league game.
Mumbai Indians currently have 17 players on their rolls, four of whom are foreigners.
Purse remaining
Mumbai Indians had come into the auction on Tuesday with the purse of Rs 17.75 crores with four overseas (eight overall slots) slot to be filled.
