According to a post by Revegnus on X (formerly Twitter), Samsung might opt for AMD GPUs for the Exynos 1480 and Exynos 1430 chipsets, which are said to power the company’s 2024 mid-range lineup. The tipster added that the upcoming chipsets will focus more on Image Signal Processing (ISP) instead of gaming performance. A recent report by SamMobile also suggests Exynos 1480 and Exynos 1430 will debut with the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A15 smartphones.

Since the upcoming chipsets are mid-range, they may offer less performance than last year’s Exynos 2200, with AMD opting to disable ray tracing to reduce costs. Right now, mid-range Exynos chipsets are powered by ARM Mali GPUs, but if Samsung opts to go with AMD, we might see a noticeable performance bump.
For the uninitiated, GPUs are not only used for gaming but also play an important role in camera and display-related hardware. They are also used for machine learning and image upscaling.
