Watch: This factory video shows how potato chips are made

Step-by-step videos from food factories make some of the most entertaining content online. A video that shows how chips are made from potatoes is being widely shared on social media.

The video, taken in a factory of a small local brand, shows how first the mud-covered potatoes are thoroughly cleaned multiple times. Next, they are pealed properly and sliced into thin bite-sized pieces. These pieces are coated with a spice mix and then put under a fryer.

Once the potatoes are fried and turned into chips, they are put on a conveyor belt and sent in for packaging. Finally, the packed chips are filled in container boxes that are ready to be shipped.

Many netizens joked that companies often fool customers by filling the chip bags with more air than snacks. An Instagram user wrote, “Bhai banate itna saare ho aur dete sirf 4 chips 😢 ”. This translates to, “Brother, you make so many chips, but give only four of them”. Another user wrote, “Bro you forgot main ingredient that is Air”.

A similar video, posted by popular food blogger Amar Sirohi, had gone viral showing how orange popsicles are made in a factory. While some people were delighted with the behind-the-scenes video that evoked nostalgia for their childhood treat, others argued that the unhygienic factory conditions and the use of artificial ingredients were off-putting.
