Milind Soman praises wife Ankita Konwar’s grit: ‘When you put your mind to something…’

Milind Soman is truly the fitness buff who not only wants to improve his fitness game every day but also motivates others around him to take up something challenging every day. It was no different this time as he was seen celebrating his wife Ankita Konwar’s accomplishment of having swum 1 km on her birthday, a skill that she only picked up in a span of 25 days.

“Happy birthday my sweetheart! So proud that you decided to swim 1km on your birthday and you actually did it!!! Considering that 25 days ago you could not swim at all, it’s an awesome accomplishment,” said Milind.

He added, “Your ability to learn new things so quickly, your grit and determination when you put your mind to something surprise me every day…and I know that you are so surprised yourself…stay excited, stay happy, I love you!”

Users were impressed by Ankita‘s determination too. One pointed out, “Now it’s proven that swimming can be learned in less than a month”, while another was curious, “How did you learn so quickly? Incredible”.

Shubhankar Thosar, swimming and water polo coach, Deccan Gymkhana, Pune mentioned that there is no age limit to learn swimming. “One can start with water walking to start with. In most cases, 1-2 months is enough to learn swimming,” Thosar told indianexpress.com.

Not long ago, the adorable couple was seen enjoying their time on Sipadan Island in Malaysia.

“Above the water or below, Sipadan is amazing. Most people think that running in the sand is better for joints, but if your core is not strong enough to maintain posture and form on a soft surface, the risk of injury might actually increase,” said Milind in a post on Instagram.

Ankita, on the other hand, was seen enjoying some yoga time. “Tree pose on a tree 😀 Tried this on the big tree of Sipadan beach,” she mentioned in a post.

Ankita also opened up about her passion for travelling. “Travelling has been my passion since I was a child. That was all I ever thought of and wished for. I remember buying encyclopedias of the world so that I would get to learn more. There was not a single travel show on TV that I would miss. It wasn’t just the place but the people, their food and culture, everything was alluring to me,” she said.

She also shared that she is extremely grateful. “I cannot thank the universe enough for all that I have experienced so far. Growing up in hostels actually made me realise that the world is my home and I get this one life to explore as many corners of it as possible.”
