Veteran director Mahesh Bhatt is celebrating his 75th birthday today. On the occasion, his wife Soni Razdan took to social media to wish him, and also gave fans a glimpse of his ‘now and then’ avatars. Daughter Pooja Bhatt on the other hand, penned an emotional note for her father. She also shared some unseen photos of him on social media.
“To the man who gave me roots,wings,the courage to stand on my own feet,walk alone & unabashedly be myself.. “A real guru,if there is one,frees you from himself.” That was the understanding that UG Krishnamurti instilled in him and what he reinstates to me & countless others day after day.. Happy 75’TH Pops! Gratitude to you & my mother for bringing me into this world. And for re-birthing me through the gift of sobriety by simply saying to me “If you love me,then love yourself.” 🙏♥️,” she wrote.
Soni Razdan posted a photo of a young Mahesh Bhatt holding a clapboard. In the next photo, presumably from their recent holiday, the filmmaker is wearing a T-shirt and hat, and smiling for the camera. “Happy 3/4 of a century you… Then and now ,” Soni wrote in her post.
Pooja Bhatt also reposted Soni Razdan’s post on her Instagram stories. His other children, Alia Bhatt, Shaheen Bhatt and Rahul Bhatt are yet to send out their wishes on social media for him.

Soni Razdan had recently shared a picture of herself and Mahesh Bhatt at the movie theatre, where they watched Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan. She also shared her thoughts on the film, describing it as fabulous, and praised SRK’s ever-evolving brilliance. She wrote, “It took @iamsrk and #Jawaan to get the both of us out on a movie date night after I don’t know how many years ! And what a fabulous film – mind is blown ♥️ is happy @Atlee_dir wow Sir 🤩 🥳 Shah Rukh Khan gets more amazing with each film. Huge congratulations all round 🎉👏👏👏.”

The Bollywood star then responded to Soni with a sweet message, and promised to make more films so that she could go on more dates. SRK shared Soni Razdan’s post and wrote, “Thank u ma’am!!! My regards to sir as well…. Now I’ll do more movies soon so u guys can go on such dates more often. Ha ha… love u.”
Mahesh Bhatt married Kiran Bhatt in 1970, and later got divorced. He married Soni Razdan in 1986. In a recent interview, Pooja Bhatt spoke about her father choosing to marry Soni Razdan when she was a young child. She said that as a film family, their private life would always be splashed in magazines. However, before that, her parents sat her down and told her everything about their equation. She said that divorces and broken families are very common today, but her parents never lied to her, or even each other.

“He met Soni and decided to get married. And my father told me everything. People may question how a young child was kept in confidence but I prefer it that way. Today, I see no difference between my brother and sisters. We are of the same blood, we are family. Soni will always be family to me. Relationships can never be made or broken through paper,” she told Siddharth Kanan.
