Shah Rukh Khan bows in front of Ganpati with family, Deepika Padukone plays with AbRam: Inside Ambanis’ Ganesh Chaturthi celebration

It was a night of devotion and stardom, as the biggest of celebrity names, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt among others attended the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration of Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani.

The grand Ganpati puja was hosted by the Ambanis at their Mumbai residence Antilia. Shah Rukh Khan attended the celebration with his family— wife Gauri Khan, daughter Suhana, youngest son AbRam, and Gauri’s mother, Savita Chibber. This was one of the first family pictures that Shah Rukh gave to the media in a long time.

Shah Rukh—dressed in a black kurta—walked in to pose for the pictures holding AbRam’s hands. The other Khan, Salman, attended the celebration with niece Alizeh Agnihotri. While the former sported a blue and white kurta, Alizeh wore a sharara.

An inside video from the bash showed an excited Nita Ambani hopping to hug Shah Rukh, who is grinning as he greets her warmly. Deepika Padukone is also seen in the video, where she is captured playing with AbRam’s hair as Shah Rukh and Gauri look on. In the next few frames, the superstar is seen chatting with people from the industry, including filmmaker Karan Johar. Shah Rukh is then seeing bowing down to the Ganpati idol and praying along with the family.

Though Aamir Khan, wasn’t present at the celebration, his children made an appearance. His eldest son Junaid and daughter Ira posed at the red carpet together. The other Khan siblings, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim also attended the puja together.

It was also a mini Team Jawan reunion as Shah Rukh’s other costars from the film, Deepika Padukone and Nayanthara also attended the celebration. Deepika, along with actor husband Ranveer Singh stood hand in hand as they posed for pictures. Similarly, Nayanthara and Vignesh made their rare and first official appearance in the city post the release of Jawan.

Actor Alia Bhatt, who recently returned from her long New York vacation with actor husband Ranbir Kapoor, attended the celebration with her close friend and filmmaker Ayan Mukerji. Also seen at the event were actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her daughter Aaradhya and Raveena Tandon with her daughter Rasha.

The accidental photobomb

The funniest moment of the red carpet, however, involved cricketers Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya and Ishan Kishan photo bombing Shahid Kapoor. When the actor was posing at the red carpet, the trio—unaware that Shahid is standing there—walked behind him and stood there for pictures as well, taking a moment to realise thay had accidentally photo bombed his pictures. When Shahid turned to look back, they figured the goof up and were seen laughing.

Filmmaker Karan Johar, Ajay Devgn, Vicky Kaushal, actor couple Sidharth Malhotra-Kiara Advani, Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Janhvi Kapoor, and Rashmika Mandanna among others were also seen at the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
